About FetusDay
We conduct annual event FetusCon to celebrate Fetus Day
Each year, we host the annual FetusCon event, a celebration of Fetus Day, a groundbreaking initiative introduced by Dr. D’Pankar Banerji on October 31, 2010. Dr. Banerji, a respected obstetrician, and gynecologist, as well as the Director of Ideal Fertility IVF and Genetic Center Private Limited in Jabalpur, MP, India, conceptualized this unique occasion.
In a world filled with commemorations for various individuals like mothers, fathers, and valentines, there was a notable absence: an acknowledgment for the unborn child, the Fetus. Dr. Banerji’s vision was revolutionary, marking the very first time anyone had dedicated a day to the unborn, the yet-to-be-born souls awaiting their entry into the world.
In 2010, a pioneering Continuing Medical Education program in Fetal Medicine took place, uniting local obstetricians, radiologists, and pediatricians. The purpose was multi-faceted:
- Raising Awareness: We aimed to heighten awareness of Fetal Medicine and Prenatal Genetics within our community and among fellow medical professionals.
- Preventing Genetic Disorders: Through Genetic Counselling and Genetic tests, our objective was to prevent various genetic disorders prevalent in the obstetric population.
- Pioneering Procedures: We conducted Interventional Sonography for a range of prenatal procedures, ensuring the health and well-being of both the mother and the unborn child.
- Collaborative Efforts: Collaborating with Genetic Laboratories across India, we aimed to enhance service quality and accessibility.
- Continuous Learning: Our commitment extended to acquiring and disseminating knowledge in the fields of Fetal Medicine and Genetics by engaging with renowned experts.
- Eradicating Disorders: We endeavored to eliminate genetic disorders such as beta-thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, DMD, and more through proactive genetic counseling and prenatal diagnostic tests.
- Early Screening: Developing a comprehensive program for early pregnancy screening, particularly for various aneuploidies, was one of our key initiatives.
- Knowledge Dissemination: Lastly, our focus encompassed learning and sharing expertise in the realms of Obstetric Sonography, Fetal Medicine, and Genetics.
FetusCon stands as a testament to our dedication, not just to the unborn, but to the continuous advancement of medical knowledge and the holistic well-being of mothers and their future generations.
